Lie down in the shade. Rest your head
in her lap. Swear allegiance
to what is nighest your thoughts.”

Cooper and I have the privileged of working at Sweet Briar Farm in Onalaska Washington. We take care of three green houses and other various areas of 3/4’s of an acre. Everyday we wake up at 6:45 to get up and work until 5:00 that evening. The work is very rewarding and we couldn’t ask for anything more exciting. More pictures and comments will be coming your way every Tuesday.
Cooper and I are applying for organic farm internships all over the country and thought that it would be fun to volunteer at one in Austin. Johnson’s farm gives a warm welcome to volunteers. The people that work there on a daily basis love their job. Volunteers leave with much more than what they came with: a few new friends, a full tote of veggies, and a smile.
I’ve had to take a break from the food photography since Cooper and I tried all the restaurants in Lake Geneva already. However, this post seems to describe the direction our life is going, in the sense that we want to teach kids and live an agrarian lifestyle. We are looking forward to teaching ESL in another country after finishing a certification class, and we desire to live on a commune with like minded friends around five years later. Yes, some of these dreams are wild and crazy, but so are we. In the meanwhile, I’ll hang out with some awesome Day Camp people and visit my animal friends daily at Nature Center.
These custard food shots were just some fun side shots from a photo shoot Kaia and I did together. At the end of my four years at Judson I had managed to not go on any friend photo shoots with my photographer friend Kaia Calhoun, so I asked her if we could do a creative shoot with props and all sorts of crazy outfits. This didn’t work out since we had one day and I only had my packed clothing, but it was still a fun chance to get some pictures of each other and capture our awesome friendship. To see more photographs of the two of us or even Kaia’s amazing personal photography click here.
These photographs were taken at Julie Ann’s Frozen Custard in Geneva IL. One more local sweet spot for you to enjoy!
Yep Cooper’s going vegan! I unfortunately find myself only becoming a vegetarian, but I’m working towards a vegan diet. For more on this life changing process visit Cooper’s blog post here.
